Material and artisanal technique:

Each plate is hand-carved from soapstone, also known as soap rock, a material prized in India for its softness and ease of working. This characteristic allows artisans to create intricate details, giving each piece a unique and artistic character. Soapstone is a natural material with inherent variation in color and veining.

Design and finish:

Model 1 features painted color bands, in purple, yellow, and green tones, over which bas-relief flowers have been carved. Model 2 stands out with a raised engraving of a central rose surrounded by petal motifs, all enhanced with red paint. The differences in carving and color application, done by hand, ensure that each unit has its own distinction.

Functional use:

These plates are designed for use as incense holders, providing a stable base for incense sticks. Their shape and size allow for effective ash collection, keeping the surface clean during burning. They can complement various spaces, incorporating an element of functional and decorative craftsmanship.
