Deep Brazilian amethyst geode with calcite at the base

Amethyst geode, cathedral type, originating from southern Brazil, featuring a deep cavity and well-developed internal crystallisation, where the perception of colour varies depending on the lighting.

Key features:

  • Mineral: amethyst with calcite presence
  • Origin: southern Brazil
  • Approximate dimensions: 30 cm x 17 cm x 20 cm
  • Approximate weight: 11 kg

Mineralogical and aesthetic description:

The interior displays amethyst crystals with a vitreous lustre and violet tones that appear darker overall due to the depth of the cavity. This depth limits light entry, creating a more intense visual effect that, under direct illumination, reveals a wider range of lighter and more varied hues.

The cavity is notably deep, enhancing the sense of volume and three-dimensionality of the piece. At the base, the presence of calcite can be observed, introducing a mineralogical contrast within the geode.

Please note:

Geodes of this type are reinforced at the base and outer edges with mortar to ensure structural stability, with a painted surface finish.

The piece shows some superficial areas where the paint has been damaged, the most visible being on the upper section. This is a result of transport and only affects the external finish, which is common for pieces of this size and origin.

Unique piece. The exact specimen shown in the images will be delivered.
