Brazilian amethyst geode in cathedral formation with small calcite formation

This attractive amethyst geode features a small calcite formation at the centre.

Main features:

  • Mineral: amethyst
  • Origin: southern Brazil
  • Formation: triangular cathedral
  • Approximate measurements and weight: 23 cm high x 21.5 cm wide x 15 cm deep, 6.5 kg

Mineralogical and aesthetic description:

The cavity shows amethyst crystallisation in a lavender tone with a vitreous lustre, featuring well developed crystals that add depth and allow a clear reading of the geode’s internal volume.

At the centre of the cavity, a small differentiated mineral formation stands out, probably calcite, positioned very centrally and easily visible when observing the interior. This detail adds an additional point of interest without altering the overall visual harmony of the piece.

A fine chalcedony rim can be discreetly observed framing the cavity, more visible in certain areas of the perimeter, helping to define the internal structure of the geode.

Please note:

In this type of Brazilian geodes, the base and the rear are usually reinforced with mortar to provide stability to the cathedral-type structure.

Unique piece. The exact specimen shown in the images will be shipped.
