Black tourmaline in quartz and feldspar matrix

This piece features well-defined crystals of black tourmaline (schorl), arranged radially on a pegmatitic matrix composed of milky quartz and potassium feldspar (microcline or orthoclase).

The feldspar appears in whitish to beige tones, with a massive texture and vitreous sheen, while the milky quartz is intergrown with the feldspar, indicating simultaneous growth typical of pegmatitic environments. The tourmaline crystals, with a prismatic shape and deep black colour, display a lustre ranging from vitreous to resinous.

The approximate dimensions of the piece are 11 cm x 20 cm x 8 cm, with a weight of around 2.2 kg.
