Plate-type incense holder, handcrafted in soapstone from India, with a diameter of 10 cm. Each piece features hand-engraved and painted Buddhist motifs, offering a functional and decorative accessory.
Main features:
Material and craftsmanship:
Each incense holder is handcrafted from natural steatite, also known as soapstone. This material, traditionally used in Indian craftsmanship for its softness and ease of carving, allows for the creation of fine details. The surface of the plate is engraved with specific Buddhist motifs and then hand-colored to enhance the designs.
Design and decorative motif:
Different models are offered, each with an engraved and painted design. The OM model features this sacred symbol, surrounded by lotus petals. The Mandala design shows a complex figure, with numerous painted petals. The Lotus focuses on this symbol of purity and rebirth, while the Buddha model illustrates a meditative figure. These motifs are engraved on the surface of the plate and enhanced with paint for a contrasting finish.
Use:
This plate is designed to hold incense sticks, collecting ash and keeping the surface where it is placed clean. Its flat and stable format ensures functional use, while its carved soapstone design adds a decorative element to the environment.
To consider:
The images shown are sample pieces. Due to the artisanal process and the nature of soapstone, variations in color, tone, and veining may occur in the material. Asymmetries or irregularities inherent in manual carving may be observed. Steatite is a relatively fragile material that requires careful handling. The incense visible in the images is not included with the product.
